Gabriela Moglan for Little Princess Trust

Gabriela has decided to donate her long hair to the Little Princess Trust who help young people suffering with hair loss after treatment, to regain their confidence by providing them with natural hair wigs and fittings.

In addition to this Gabriela has raised £857 enough to cover the cost of making one wig plus fitting.

Paul Johnstone – Volunteering for RSPB

Our Site Manager, Paul Johnstone, volunteered with the RSPB Bird and Wildlife Conservation Charity—an organisation dedicated to protecting birds and nature through habitat restoration, species conservation, advocacy, and the management of nature reserves.

Upon arriving at Northward Hill Nature Reserve, Paul and the other volunteers worked their way through the site, clearing and pruning trees to allow more sunlight through—helping create the ideal conditions for birds and bees to begin building their nests, with the team covering almost 52.5 hectares. Despite the challenge, he found it incredibly rewarding and is already planning to return and support the cause again.

Not only did Paul dedicate his time to this important initiative, but he also contributed to Open Contracts’ ambitious goal of raising £25,000 for various charities. For every volunteering day, we add £500 to the fundraising pot.

Kathryn Kane – Half Marathon for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

Kathryn has lacing up her running shoes and took on a Half Marathon in support of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Her run will help Battersea continue caring for dogs and cats who need rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming at their centres.

Matthew Parsons – London Marathon for Rooprai Spinal Trust

On Sunday 26 April, Matt completed the London Marathon, achieving a new personal best with an impressive time of 3:03. For this run, he chose to support the Rooprai Spinal Trust, raising over £2,800 for the cause.

Thanks to Matt’s achievement and generosity, our fundraising total has now climbed to nearly £9,000.

To help achieve our target of raising £25,000 for charities, we have signed up as a team to take on The Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. With a total walking distance of 23 miles (37km) and a total ascent of 3,064 metres (10,052ft) this will indeed be a challenge but it’s one we’re determined to take on.

The team has already started training, making sure they have the right kit, and taking time to decide which charity they want to raise funds for at the same time as taking on the physical challenge.

For Open Contracts 25th anniversary, this milestone is about far more than reaching a fundraising target. It’s about uniting as one team, supporting the causes that resonate with us, and honouring 25 years in a way that reflects our values and heart. With plenty more events, challenges and volunteer days on the horizon, we’re excited to build on the momentum and continue making an impact. Together, we’re shaping 2026 into a celebration with purpose – creating meaningful change and lasting memories every step of the way.
