We create spaces
that work for people

4th Floor Napier House, WC1V

The fourth floor of Napier House underwent an impressive CAT A+ transformation. The objective of this office refurbishment project was to align with the modern look and feel of the office space on the fifth floor of the same building.

Our team successfully completed the project in 13 weeks, demonstrating effective project management, a collaborative way of working and an imaginative approach to problem solving.

The result? A seamless execution of the project and a stunning work space ready to be enjoyed.

The office space at 4th Floor Napier House, London.

The vision

The project brief included a full strip out and refurbishment of the 4th-floor space, with the aim of aligning and potentially exceeding the standards of the recently refurbished 5th-floor office space. The full CAT A+ fit-out process included all furniture installation, a built-in kitchen area, meeting room partitions and a new shower, providing the client with an incredibly functional and yet decidedly modern space.

The created space

Once the space was fully stripped-out the team started to build the walls to form the kitchen area and then installed the new shower.

At the same time, the mechanical system was reconfigured to fit the new layout, and two meeting rooms with Critall glazed partitions were built.

A number of design elements drew on the excellent craftsmanship skills of our team; the twenty air conditioning units where reimagined with bespoke joinery covers that were created on site. Another interesting feature that required our creative input was the design of the bespoke vanity mirrors, which needed to look great and allow access behind the installation.

In addition to these features the kitchen fit-out was enhanced by the finish of the Corian worktop that gave this area a stylish, sophisticated look at the same time as ensuring the practical functionality of the space, which will be in constant use by the new occupiers.

And the graphic installation of the LED lights created a focus point in the workspace and will help reduce energy consumption in the future.

Achieving a ‘Very Good’ Considerate Constructors Scheme Certificate

Throughout the project safety was maintained to consistently high standards, achieving AAs scores from the regular external Health & Safety inspections. This, coupled with our engaging and collaborative approach to working with our with subcontractors and the design team, also helped achieve a ‘Very Good’ Considerate Constructors Scheme certificate.

As with many of our projects, other floors within the building were occupied so managing noise during the refurbishment was crucial for maintaining good relationships with the occupiers and the client.

Our team meticulously planned and monitored the works, with a clear programme issued to the wider team on site so all noisy works were completed on schedule and accurately recorded. This level of attention to detail also contributed to a ‘Very Good’ score from the Considerate Constructors Scheme auditor.

The values that matters to us

This project provides a great example of what can be achieved through a collaborative approach and underlines the vital role that our core values play in turning a vision into reality.

From effectively managing the potential disruption of noisy works to resolving unexpected design challenges, the key to success lies in effective collaboration, imagination, strict adherence to quality and safety standards, and an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction.

The space on the 4th floor at Napier House now stands as an inspiring blueprint, affirming that with the right mindset we can create spaces that work for everyone.

In the past we have delivered various projects for our clients at Hollis, from minor dilapidations works to large industrial units and stylish office fit-outs like this one – our aim is always to make every space work harder and smarter.
