With our focus now firmly on 2024 and new instructions for office and industrial refurbishment projects, let’s just take a moment to celebrate these award winning projects of past years.
We’re proud these office projects received such prestigious awards, including the OAS Development, FX Awards, Mixology, and BD Interior Architect of the Year Awards, and we’re grateful to our forward-thinking clients and the architects who put their trust in us to bring their inspiring visions to life.
Each and every one of our CAT B fit-out projects is unique and captivating in its own way, but a particular project that stands out is The Bindery, which won the OAS Development Awards 2023 for City Best Delivered Scheme <35,000 square feet.
This 1930s Art Deco building, measuring 26,000 square feet, was stripped down to its core and shell by us in a first phase of works. We then added a new feature staircase, infilled the redundant staircase, extended the lift shaft to access a new terrace, reinforced the structure to create a large roof garden, replaced the lifts, constructed a new raised rear terrace, added new showers and WCs throughout, plus all new mechanical and electrical services, and laid new raised timber floors.
We then created a showcase Cat B fit-out on one floor for our client’s marketing purposes, before delivering a four-floor Cat B fit-out for incoming occupier Faber & Faber, which was also an award-winning project – this time the BD Interior Architect of the Year at AYA Awards 2023 on behalf of Piercy & Co.
Another award winning project that we’re proud of is The Carnaby Club, also known as 72 Broadwick Street, which won the Mixology 2023 Project of the Year – Workplace Interiors 5,000 – 15,000 square feet. This flagship office space, created for Shaftesbury Plc, overlooks the iconic bustling Carnaby Street.
The works included structural openings for a new lift and feature staircase, a roof terrace, and a Cat B fit-out that called for the highest levels of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Together with the architects at BGY led by Jessica Hillman, we created a space that is warm and welcoming, and serves a range of needs for hospitality, and co-working with focus booths, pods, meeting rooms, and informal huddle zones.
Beautiful timber floors combined with subtle acoustic treatments throughout give an air of calm and peace; spa hotel-quality showers and WCs with superb finishes and materials complete the sense of luxury. We engaged early in the design process, helping guide the architect and client with rapid but well-considered budgeting while the design evolved.
A re-imagined 1980s office building located at 27 Goswell Road, Barbican, also won two fantastic awards: the FX Award for Best Large Workplace in 2022, and the BD Architect of the Year Award for Best Interior Architect category in 2021, and was also shortlisted for the Mixology Awards in 2021.
On this 52,000 square foot office project of nine floors, we completed extensive strip-out and refurbishment works. These included forming a large structural opening through the floor slab to create a grand steel and oak feature staircase flowing around a Fiscus tree, and the installation of a large new glazed and terrazzo façade.
One floor was fully fitted out to a very high standard for marketing purposes, and then a second Cat B fit-out was completed for incoming occupier Pepsi. The architects that designed this exciting scheme were once again the talented team at Buckley Gray Yeoman.
In 2021, our design and build project in Fitzrovia, London at Elsley House won the Mixology Awards – Project of the Year Award Medium Workplace category.
Working again in collaboration with the architects at BGY, we created a contemporary CAT B fit-out incorporating very high-quality materials and finishes across lounge areas, meeting rooms, open-plan offices, and breakout areas.
These are just some of the large-scale projects that we’ve delivered for our clients and their architects in recent years, and we are proud of the collaborative relationships we have developed with all of them enabling us to deliver their award winning vision.
