Our team has already begun embracing the challenge with energy, enthusiasm, and creativity. Here are just some of the inspiring efforts that will launch our year of fundraising and volunteering:

Les Turton – Raising funds for Samaritans with Dry January sponsorship

Les and his partner Bridget are getting our campaign off to a great start, with a month-long commitment to Dry January, raising much needed funds for Samaritans – a charity offering emotional support to anyone struggling to cope and in times of crisis. The challenge faced by Samaritans shines a light on the importance of mental health and the power of simply being there for someone who needs to be heard.

Carlos Gonzalez – Supporting Cancer Research UK through volunteering

Carlos has booked his volunteer day for mid-January and will be spending the day in his local Cancer Research shop using his extensive decorating and DIY skills to help them refurbish parts of the store, and in turn playing his part in helping Cancer Research UK bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.

Gabriela Moglan – Donating Hair to The Little Princess Trust

Gabriela is making an incredibly personal and meaningful contribution by donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust, helping provide wigs – and hope – to children undergoing cancer treatment. Her act of kindness is a beautiful reminder of the many ways we can support others beyond financial donations. However the cost of one wig is £700, and for this Gabriela will be setting up a fundraising page through The Little Princess Trust to help cover the costs of making a wig.

Open Contracts tracking our progress

To keep the momentum going throughout the year, we’ve created our very own Fundraising Thermometer, showing exactly how close we are to reaching our £25,000 goal. We’ll update it regularly as new events, donations, and volunteer days are completed.

Every type of contribution counts. We’ll add the total raised by individuals through sponsored events and activities, and, for each Volunteer Day taken, we’ll add a notional £500 to reflect the value of each individual’s time, effort and contribution.

Here’s to a meaningful anniversary year

For Open contracts this year isn’t just about hitting a target – it’s about coming together as a team, supporting causes that matter, and celebrating 25 years of Open Contracts with purpose and care.

As a team, we’re going to make 2026 a year to remember by making a real difference, together.
